I mean, of course like not within a few weeks or months, but within maybe a few years. Currently, there are 2 planes that seem to be very capable of filling the role the F - 16 takes on: the F - 22 and the JSF.

Even though the F - 22 was originally intended to replace the F - 15, I seriously doubt that Congress would be willing to spend billions of dollars on just an air - superiority fighter, would they? From what I know, the F - 22 is faster, probably more agile, has a greater range, higher ceiling, is a hell of a lot stealthier, and a whole lot more. Even the new Block 60 F - 16s don't seem to match up that well! Could it replace the F - 16 in the near future, assuming it enters production in reasonable numbers?

Of course, it's expensive as hell, so maybe not completely, but what about the JSF, which is meant to replace a lot of fighters, from the F - 15 to the F/A - 18 to the Jaguar, to possibly even the Tornado. It seems that a great deal of the nations are injecting all their effort into making a cheaper, yet just as capable version of the F - 22 to replace a great deal of existing aircraft. The JSF definitely seems like a greater threat than the F - 22 replacing the F - 16, so I guess my question is, is the threat real, or am I just tripping? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm building a 1/9th scale turbine powered F16 and I'm looking for information on a particular color scheme I saw.

It was mostly two-tone grey but the tail was painted in horizontal red and white stripes. The only thing I've discovered was that it may have come from Ramstein AFB.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Help will be deeply appreciated.

Hi guys! Just want to quote an F16 accident that happened some time ago.

"In aft ejection mode, the front pilot pulls the ejection handle. The aft pilot was supposed to be ejected first, and after a short delay, the front pilot. Suprisingly, the front pilot ejected first, and the rocket blast from the ACES II seat gave the aft pilot first degree burns. The aft pilot eventually ejected and he survived the ordeal."

I was told that this might have something to do with the M99 and M53 initiators. What went wrong? Something wrong with the ejection sequence?

Please help.

Thanks.

It's weird, you can even see the cloud bending when it's formed in front of the jet's nose just before the jet's inside the cloud. Key features of the design include a very high power/weight ratio fro good performance in climbing and turning flight, a fly-by-wire control system for maximum agility, a semi-reclinig pilots seat to increase pilot comfort and gravity force tolerance, a clear-view canopy offering unexcelled fields of vision, advanced avionics for long-range targeting and accurate weapon delivery. This combined with the low production and maintenance cost, the all-weather capability and long combat radius makes the F-16 a valuable asset to all of the air arms operating it.
That question has been on my mind for a while now, and even though I've looked on the web a great deal, I can't find any good comparisons between the two, probably because now the F-16XL is just a research plane. But if it were to go into production being upgraded to a combat - capable aircraft with an avionics suite on - par with the new Block 60s and a similarly powerful engine to match, I wonder which would be better, in terms of top speed, maneuverability, range, payload / payload diversity, avionics, the whole nine. I would just like to know, and your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

I'm looking for photo's off all aircraft flying with the Belgian Airforce and other NATO Airforces from 1945 onwards. List of serials en crashdates (reports) are welcome. Further on I'm looking for areal photographs of major airbases troughout NATO - Europe. The best pictures will be published in a book coming out in 2006. Spotters all over Europe may send me their reports. The question is about canopy.
As you know, the canopy of F-16 Fighting Falcon is coated with gold.

I have found some variants of canopy as follows;
1: All glass area is coated
2: Only front canopy is coated. Rear part is normal glass.
3: All glass area is not coated (normal glass)

Are these variants caused by different product-blocks ? Or no concerned ?

Has the popularity of the F-16 gone down in this site?

I was just wondering, is there any particular reason that no one seems to respond to anything on this site. Has the F-16 honestly gotten so boring, cuz dang, it's been a while since someone responded to / discussed anything. And I'm not just talkin' about my threads, but others as well. I'm also talkin' about the fact that no new threads have been created since mine, what's up with that?! The forum at F-16.net (http://www.f-16.net/), which I'm also a member of, always has a lot of activity, so I guess I'm wondering why this forum can't as well. This forum just seems dead, and God only knows why. Anyone care to enlighten me, assuming that this thread is even read?

Which F-16 version is the best?

Hey everyone, well, I know that a similar thread was already created, but that thread dealt only with operational F-16s, not all the research variants or concepts, so I decided to creat a new thread to see which one out of the entire F-16 famiily people think is the best. So which version of the F-16 is the best, taking everything into account, such as speed, agility, payload, mission - capability, everything. I really don't know, which is why I ask everyone's opinion on the matter. My favorite F-16 variant still remains the F - 16XL, but it never entered production (thus wasn't truly made combat - ready, being without a radar and such), much less went into combat, so I guess it can't be it, though I'll bet all I have that if it were given an avionics suite like the Block 60s, please believe it would be a force to be reckoned with. Shoot, who needs conformal tanks when it already has a range of nearly 3,000 miles (2,850 to be exact). Anyways, logical choice would of course be the last block to date, the Block 60 F - 16, which needless to say seems pretty impressive, but I'm still not sure, so feel free to state your opinions on the matter.
