Getting in to the Academy

I am a junior in high schoo and have just begun to talk to my counselor about going to the academy. I wish to fly in the air force as a career and this seems to be the best way to go. I have about a 3.5 accumalitive GPA, I havent taken the ACT or SAT yet which I really need to do, I have played baseball for all of my high school career and one year of football, and I started my own business. I am in the process of contacting my liason officer and some cadets at the academy and I was wondering what else should I do to increase my chances of getting in. I fear I may have started too late yet I know it is still possible for me to get in. I really think I am the kind of person they are looking for, athletic and smart, but I need to do some more things in the area of their "leadership," and "integrity" requirements. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone,

I have dreamt of being a fighter pilot for as long as i can possibly remember. i however didnt honestly think it was possible for me utill recently. I was homeschooled after 8th grade, and finished with a GED. Im working to take my SAT and ACT. Is it really even possible for me to get into the academy at this point? My extra curricular isnt that great at the moment, my life has basicly for the last 6 or 7 years revolved BMX (racing and freestyle) where ive competed in nationals, been sponsored, did race for life, and trained other riders throughout my career, i know this isnt as big of a hit as highschool sports, or extra curricular work, but do you think that, combined with me working for the past year in a factory be good enough to be nominated, as well as accepted? One last question, what exactly do i need to do to get a nomination? I know i have to mail congressmen and senators, but how many should i send a letter to, is there a limit? Any and all info is very helpful

Entering the Air Force Academy From College

Hello, I am a freshman engineering major at Florida State, currently in my second semester. I have recently come to the conclusion that I want to be an aeronautical engineer, but that particular field is not offered here at FSU. I had seriously considered applying to the air force academy when I was a junior in high school, but never actually pursued it. Lately, however, after doing much research, I have once again looked into the academy, and would like to know if anybody has any information regarding getting accepted to the academy from college. I currently have a 3.95 GPA, and had a 1300 on my SAT (730 Math - 570 English). I already have connections with a senator, and believe getting a nomination is more than possible, yet I am unsure how hard it is to get accepted. If anyone has any information they could share I would be very greatful.

Hey All,
Sorry, I know you get these all the time, but I'm in the 8th grade and I've been wanting to be a fighter pilot since I was about 4. Recently, Well about 2 years ago, I decided it was going to be my goal to attend the Air Force Academy. Which brings me to my quetions, How hard is it to get a nomination from your congressman? I have had good grades, played sports, and not got into too much trouble- and when I did it was for nothing minor just talking etc. Every male in my family for as long and I've researched has been in the military. Do you think that'll help my chances? For my final question, is there anything I can do now besides attending as many things as possible and getting good grades?

Answers to Air Force Academy Questions

I just found this website yesterday and was reading some of the posts of questions about the Air Force Academy. I am a senior in high school right now and I completed the application process. I attended the Summer Seminar and I am in contact with numerous cadets weekly. My experience and all the research I have done on the Air Force Academy is compiling up and so I thought I might be able to answer some questions people may have about the Air Force Academy. I have already responded to several, but many were posted months earlier so I don't know if these are even looked at anymore. So I thought that I would let people know that I would love to answer any questions people may have or try to at least (If anything I can ask current cadets at the academy, or my liason) point in the right direction. Please post all your questions because by answering one person's question I hope to answer many. No question is to small or dumb and the invitation is for any middle schoolers through adults. I will be checking the site weekly; however, I am very busy, but I will try my best to answer all the questions as quickly as I can.

Preparing for the Interview-request for advice

Hello,

I recently joined the Michigan Air National Guard. I am an enlisted member. I am a 26 year old female. My education counselor suggested that I become a pilot in the Air Force. I meet the basic qualifications: have a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Finance, physically fit, meet the vision requirements, I have a good aptitude for math and statistics.

I will have an interview in about two weeks with the First Sargent..As I am trying to prepare for the interview, I would like to request some advice on how to prepare for the interview.

I want to embrace the career of a pilot, but I have some fears that not knowing too much about this field could become a barrier. Also, my grades in college were not great (I worked a lot), but I have completed several graduate courses. I also earned 13 credit hrs. while in the contracting technical school.

I am nervous about the interview and I would appreciate any feedback.

Hello, I'm currently a sophomore in college, and I was wondering if it is possible to transfer to the Air Force Academy, and if so, how does it work? Will I have to start over as a freshman, or will I be able to transfer credits in? Would the admittance process be more difficult for me than for someone who's still in high school? I had pretty good SAT scores(1400+) and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated.

Preparing for the Academy

I was wondering if anybody could give me some things to do to prepare for the academy. What types of courses I should take in school and also are there any certain exercise routines that I should do? I hope to be one step ahead of everybody and your help is greatly appreciated.

I was wondering about all of the qualifications for the Air Force Academy. I've already looked at their site, but they don't give very detailed figures. I know that you have to have a good GPA, but is there an exact figure? I would also like to know about the vision requirements and things like that for pilot training.
