Airline focus: Southeast Airlines of USA
Southeast Airlines (www.southeastairlines.com), a charter carier headquartered in Largo, Florida, was founded since 1992. But it does not fly flights from Largo. Instead most of its flights from northeast USA and Florida.

It runs 8 aircrafts consisting of DC-9-30 for flights of 3 hour or less, and MD-80 for flights over 3 hours, as well as flights with more passengers.

Like the low cost carriers, it offers free non-alcoholic drinks in-flight, and alcoholic drinks are priced. Southeast, however, does not offer snacks.

Southeast Airlines is one of the most innovative airline in USA and probably the world.

It recently offers a 'Club $59' program, in which passengers can fly flights for only US$59 per flight (subjetced to availablity), and unlimited flights per year, the best in the world!!! (Only flights TO and FROM Florida, EXCLUDING Biloxi, Minnesota, is applicable.)

The club membership black out periods are:
November 26th, 2003 - November 30th, 2003
December 23rd, 2003, - January 4th, 2004
February 13th, 2004 - February 16th, 2004
April 2nd, 2004 - April 12th, 2004
April 30th, 2004 - May 3rd, 2004
November 26th, 2004 - November 30th, 2004
December 23rd, 2004 - January 3rd, 2005

Southeast Airlines has signed an agreement with SkyWay Communications Holding to offer free Wi-Fi Internet service, and phone calls for as low as 50 US cents a minute. This makes Southeast Airlines the first and only airline in USA to offer Wi-Fi Internet service in flight. All other airlines in USA, like United and Continental, offers only dialup internet service for passengers, and is $16 a flight. Even the Wi-Fi Internet access is limited to trials on Scandinavian Airlines and Lufthansa of Germany, not on widescale provision. The cost of the phone is also very cheap compared to other airlines, which starts from US$2 per minute.

What's more is the Wi-Fi service is free, because of showing of Ad on the drop-down TV monitors, as well as both pop-ups and banner ads for the Internet access.

Business travellers welcomed the new technology very much, while some passengers worry there would be many people talking via phones because of very low fare of the phone service.
